I will be answering questions from the fans…

Hey everyone,

Yesterday was a great day for me as I got to see Teixeira start at first base over Kevin “Useless” for the 2009 All Star Game!!! And I also got to see the Yankees out slug the Blue Jays in a great come from behind victory. The Yanks have a chance to sweep the Jays today and tie the Red Sox at first place in the AL East Divison (as long as Boston loses today!)
But my main reason for this post are to remind fans that if you want me to answer any questions you have regarding the Yankees or the 2009 All Star Game, just comment on some of my latest posts and I’ll try to answer them as best as I can.
Thanks and Go Yankees!

Arod and Weather: Heating Up!

Well, Summer is here and in full gear as the 2009 All Star Game gets ready for it’s 80th Anniversary, in 10 days. Baseball is approaching the halfway mark in the season with the Red Sox leading the AL East, the Tigers with the AL Central, and the Angels and Rangers battling it out for control of the AL West. As for the NL, the Phillies hold a one game lead over the Marlins for the NL East, the Cardinals are also hanging onto a one game lead for the NL Central, and the Dodgers (with the best record in baseball 51-29) are dominating the NL West. But one future Hall of Famer (debateable) can’t wait for Summer to roll around.

Alex Rodriguez was in one of the worst slumps of his career batting just .213 in 40 games played. Alex had just 9 homeruns, 28 RBIs, 18 runs scored, and 30 walks. Things weren’t looking too good for the New York Yankees clean up hitter. As a result, manager Joe Girardi decided to give Arod a rest and bench him, back-to-back games, against the Marlins in Miami. “It’s not easy, I can tell you that, but it is important,” Girardi said “It is hard not having his bat in the lineup.”

However, once the weather started to heat up, Arod followed suit. Between June 23rd and July 3rd (Yesterday) Alex has been batting .377 (boosting his AVG to .237) with 5 homeruns, 14 RBIs, 9 runs, and 12 walks. It seems as though Alex has been seeing the ball better and has found his swing. “It feels pretty good,” Rodriguez said. “I like when I hit the ball to right-center and hit the ball in the air. The key for me is to try to stay aggressive.”

Hopefully Alex can stay hot for the remainder of the season and help the Yankees sneak past the Red Sox to regain their place at the top of the AL East Division.

My Version of the 2009 All Star Roster

Of course, many people have their own opinion of who should be on the 2009 All Star roster. And of those many people, I too have my opinion. I have made these decisions based upon talent, skill, most deserving, and my personal preference. I’m not saying this should be the starting roster of the 2009 All Star Game, but it is who I’d like to see on the roster. I would appreciate it if know one would comment on “why this guy over this guy” or “you call that guy deserving?” It’s just my opinion. It also doesn’t mean that these are the people that I voted for.
